About BioMedRTC

The Biomedical Research and Technology Centre (BioMedRTC) is a newly established centre of excellence in Sofia, Bulgaria, launched in partnership with the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (MPI-CBG), Dresden, and Institut Curie, Paris.

BioMedRTC aims to advance biomedical research by integrating molecular and cell biology with cutting-edge technologies and quantitative approaches. The Centre's scientific mission focuses on understanding the fundamental biological mechanisms of cancer and rare diseases.

The Position

BioMedRTC invites applications from outstanding early-career researchers to establish independent research groups in molecular and cell biology and related biomedical disciplines.

We seek ambitious scientists with excellent research achievements, original scientific ideas and strong potential to become internationally recognized leaders in their fields.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop independent research programmes, build their own research teams and contribute to the establishment of a dynamic and internationally competitive research environment.

  • Access to advanced research infrastructure and technology platforms (advanced fluorescent microscopy, single-cell proteomics and transcriptomics).
  • An interdisciplinary and internationally connected research environment
  • Opportunities for collaboration with MPI-CBG and Institut Curie
  • Institutional support for developing an internationally competitive research programme
  • Competitive employment and start-up conditions, to be specified in the final offer

Selection Process

Candidates will be selected through an open, transparent and merit-based international recruitment (OTM-R) procedure.

Applications will be evaluated based on scientific excellence, originality, potential for independent leadership, quality of the proposed research programme and compatibility with the scientific mission of BioMedRTC.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to present their research and participate in interviews with an international selection committee.

BioMedRTC is committed to equality, diversity, and inclusion and welcomes applications from all qualified researchers.
